Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center is a 501(c)3 organization
working to create lasting economic development through small business
ownership. We have offices in San
Francisco (South of Market and Bayview) and East Palo Alto, own
our own building with 30+ tenants, and provide training and support to
over 1,100 entrepreneurs in the Bay Area each year. We have recently
completed an organizational merger, and operate under a $2.7M budget.
Effective January 1, we implemented a new financial administration
system.
The Finance Manager will oversee and implement all financial
activities, including preparation of financial statements, billing of
government contracts, overseeing AR/AP transactions and developing the
organization and program budget. Ideal applicant seeks an opportunity
to actively engage in a dynamic organization for 24-28 hours per week
(actual work schedule flexible) with time to pursue other passions and
interests.
Reporting Relationship(s): The Finance Manager reports to the
Director of Operations, and will initially work closely with our
consultant, who led the redesign of our financial system and is now
serving as the Interim Controller. A full-time Finance Assistant
reports directly to the Finance Manager.
Specific Duties include:
Financial Administration/Analysis
• Guide and direct the organization's financial
administration
• Perform all financial reporting to the CEO, Director of
Operations, and Board of Directors
• Comply with reporting requirements of government
contracts
• Develop annual organization budget and program budgets
Oversee all Financial Activities Including:
• Accounts payable and receivable functions
• Allocation of staff time and overhead costs to all
projects
• Preparation of invoices and posting of AR for
approximately 35 tenants and 5 government contracts on a monthly basis
• Processing AP (approximately 150 checks per month)
• Reconciliation of bank statements
• Monitoring of organization's investments under guidance
of CEO and Board
• Work closely with outside CPA firms on annual audit
• Preparation of IRS, State and local tax/reporting
• Refining new financial system throughout 2008, as input
from Board of Directors, CEO and staff dictate
Experience/Skills:
• Understanding of nonprofit accounting and non-profit
organizations' financial planning concerns is necessary
• At least 5 years of increasingly responsible financial
management experience; ideal candidate has implemented organizational
change around financial administration process, and has experience in:
small grants management; federal and local government contracts;
building ownership; tenant invoicing; small grants distribution
* Strategic thinker with sound technical skills, analytic
ability, strong operational focus and ability to work effectively with
leadership and staff
• BA in Accounting or equivalent supervisory and
practical experience
• Proficiency in FundEZ or familiarity with other similar
accounting software, Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
